NPCI launched open-source Android ATMs at Global Fintech Fest 2026, designed as digital banking units for rural hubs and corporate parks. These machines can instantly issue RuPay cards and merchant UPI QR codes, slashing onboarding from weeks to minutes. Nine major lenders including SBI and Bank of Baroda are trialling the ATMs alongside manufacturers Hitachi Payment Services and Vortex Engineering.
