More than 700 migrants attempted to cross the English Channel in a single day — one of the busiest of 2026 so far — just 24 hours after Prime Minister Andy Burnham publicly declared that the Government's small boats strategy was "working." Unofficial estimates suggest around 570 migrants reached Dover by Tuesday evening, with three additional dinghies still mid-Channel.
