Penguin Random House India dropped Sonia Gandhi's memoir Belonging from its Indian catalogue after a dispute over editorial changes to passages critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the RSS, and Chinese intrusions into Indian territory. The publisher insists it "remained willing and keen" while Congress calls the decision a "murder of freedom of expression." The book still launches worldwide Nov. 10 via Alfred A. Knopf.
