Ireland is now the central authority for implementing the EU AI Act domestically, with the Government appointing Paul Byrne as the first CEO of the AI Office of Ireland. Minister Peter Burke called it "pioneering AI regulation" delivering "a high level of protection for people's health, safety, and fundamental rights" while promoting trustworthy AI.
