Heart Risk Starts Early—and Mounjaro’s Label Now Says So

The FDA has approved Mounjaro to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in people with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk. In a major trial, it performed as well as Trulicity for preventing heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular death; Mounjaro users had an 8% lower relative risk of those events compared with Trulicity users. The shift puts heart protection alongside diabetes treatment—but it applies to a specific high-risk group, not everyone taking the drug.
