Ireland's First Online Safety Code Enforcement as EU Pushes Harder on Digital Regulation

Ireland's media regulator has fired its first shot under the Online Safety Code, launching a formal investigation into Elon Musk's X for potential failures in age assurance and parental controls. Coimisiún na Meán says the platform risks exposing children to pornography and extreme violence, and if found in breach, X could face fines of up to 10% of its relevant annual turnover or €20 million, whichever is greater.
