Apple's Hide My Email feature, launched in 2021 to generate "unique, random email addresses" that shield your real identity, has been doing the exact opposite for at least a year. Security researcher Tyler Murphy discovered the flaw in June 2025 and told 404 Media that in limited tests with volunteers, the problem was universal:
