Nigeria Pushes Digital Sovereignty with N3.8T IT Spend, New Satellites, and Cloud-First Mandate

Nigeria just greenlit NIGCOMSAT-2A and NIGCOMSAT-2B, two next-generation high-throughput satellites from Thales Alenia Space and Israel Aerospace Industries. The Federal Executive Council approved the project to expand national satellite capacity and slash dependence on foreign infrastructure. NIGCOMSAT Managing Director Nkechi Egerton-Idehen says the deployment will extend connectivity to underserved communities and strengthen communications resilience.
